First trip on Khasab –Qeshm - Bandar Abbas to be launched on 28 July 2016 - Wednesday, 20 July 2016

An official source at National Ferries Company ( NFC) confirmed that the first trip will be launched on Thursday 28th July 2016 from Khasab port, in Musandam Governorate, to Bahman port in Qeshm Island and Bahonar port in Bandar Abbas city. There will be 4 weekly return trips on the route.

 

Citizens, residents wishing to travel to Bandar Abbas shall finalize visa processing procedures through approved travel agencies whose names are available at the Consular section of the embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI).

 

For those travelling from Iran to the Sultanate, the procedures for obtaining visa are through the Consular section at the Sultanate’s embassy in IRI, or through companies and tourism bureaus in the Sultanate as part of the Electronic Visa (e-Visa) system. Passengers travelling to Qeshm Island, however, don’t require visa, since the area is an economic free zone and residents of United Arab Emirates, who are Manager or above, and their equivalent, wishing to travel to Bandar Abbas may finalize (Oman’s) visa formalities upon arrival at the Sultanate’s (Tiabat) border point. However, they should obtain entry visa to Iran before reaching the Sultanate.

 

NFC calls upon all passengers to prepare early on by finalizing travel procedures that include entry visa, reserving tickets at any of the Company’s offices in Muscat, Shinas, Khasab, Shannah, and Masirah.

 

NFC is keen to mobilize all its available resources to ensure a distinguished sailing experience on board its fleet, the most modern at region’s level. It is worth noting that the first trip shall be through Al Halaniyat vessel, with a 100 passenger capacity, and equipped with facilities that ensure the highest standards of comfort and safety. According to sailing schedule, trips will start from 9:00am on Thursday and return will be on the same day at 2:00pm. The Second trip will be on Saturday at 7:00am and return trip will be at 12:00 noon same day.

 

The first phase of operations will be for passengers, personal luggage, and light cargo. Vehicular transport service will be introduced later on.
